The Appalachian Virginia Food System Network (AVFSN) hosted an inaugural convening in Wytheville, VA on March 18th, 2016. This gathering brought together a diversity of people interested in building a regional food system that is strong and vibrant, that fairly benefits all southwest Virginians.

The AFP shared findings and recommendations from the Appalachian Foodshed Project (swVA) community food security assessment (pdf). Participants also explored new digital opportunities for collaboration. But most importantly, this gathering was a space to connect with other people and organizations who are committed to building a stronger, more resilient southwest Virginia.
